*Note all GBS-Central Students will have 1 class at Bassmnt for POS training. The POS systems and the Downtown location with POS is open to all GBS students for extra practice or class time.

GBS is the only school in San Diego that provides Point of Sale System (computerized cash register) training. Students are trained with the "Aloha" system. There are several P.O.S systems, but Aloha is the #1 used system in the bar industry and through out the country. All systems run on the same format, with simple adjustments in brands. GBS includes the P.O.S into class drills to get the best REAL LIFE bartending training. Other schools will tell you its “not neccisarry, waste of time, there’s 20 types etc”. That’s because they do not have POS systems. It’s training is expected and there is no time to show you. 2 strikes and your out when it comes to mistakes on the POS, fact.

When creating the most COMPLETE bartending school in the USA, P.O.S training is a MUST. Every job requires Aloha or P.O.S knowledge (most say so in job add's, training is always expected and puts you in a bad situations not understanding how to use a P.O.S and bartend at the same time). This training defiantly gives you the advantage new bartenders need. Simply put, if 2 equal people apply for 1 bartending job and only one knows the P.O.S, Bar managers are going to hire the person w/ prior P.O.S. training every time.

Many Bartending Schools will say "there are millions of P.O.S systems that operate differently" or "people train bartenders on the job to use the P.O.S", that is FALSE! In the REAL world of bartending TRANSACTIONS ON THE P.O.S IS 50% OF THE JOB AND THE MANAGERS AND OWNERS #1 CONCERN. Knowing how to use one P.O.S system, you basically can use any system. Great example; our students bartend at venues through out SD because they are trained to use Aloha P.O.S and can simply adapt to any system out there. Don't believe us? Ask any bartender or bar manager, not only are they all very similar but without knowing how to use a P.O.S system students will find it hard to break into the competitive world of bartending. If you are not familiar with the system and are unable to perform cash and credit card transactions it is IMPOSSIBLE TO BARTEND.  When becoming a bartender learning to use a P.O.S can be very difficult and finding someone with the time during a shift to teach you can be even more difficult. The fact you have the skills to operate a P.O.S is a selling point to potential employers and a great advantage for G.B.S students!

All students are always welcomed to come in anytime after they graduate to practice the POS system as well!
