-Students taking the 2 week class have the flexibility to attend the AM or PM classes.

DOWNTOWN CAMPUS:

  • 2 WEEK AM CLASS: Monday - Thursday 9:30am-1:00pm

  • 2 WEEK PM CLASS: Monday - Thursday 6:30pm-10:00pm

  • 1 WEEK CLASS: Monday - Friday 1:00pm -6:00pm

CENTRAL CENTRAL CAMPUS:

  • 2 WEEK AM CLASS: Monday-Thursday 9:30am-1:00pm

  • 2 WEEK CLASS PM: Monday - Thursday

    6:30pm-10:00pm

  • 1 WEEK CLASS: Monday-Friday

    1:00pm-6:00pm

  • WEEKEND CLASS: Saturday-Sunday (2.5 weekends)

  • Mixology Workshop: Saturday’s (check for dates)

    1:00pm-4:00pm

  • GBS is the most difficult program your going to find. No matter what class you take, all students are with GBS until they pass the GBS test to our standards. We will NEVER give up on a student! For no extra fee we will continue the program for students that need more time/work to pass the class.

  • Our program includes text book, certificate, job interviews, free lifetime refresher classes at either location, interview coaching, Access to job/events group page on FB, distillery tour, paid guest bartending, behind the bar practice time and more!

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Gaslamp Bartending School Owner/Instructor Nino Nunziante has been in the industry since 2002 in both the east and west coast and still bartending to this day. A local that takes GREAT PRIDE IN EVERY STUDENT, he is also the Winner of the 2018 "Beast of the Bar" and 2017 "Beast of the Beach", Awarded to the top bartender in SD. Nino has won several awards thru out his bartending career. With over a decade of bartending experience, Nino also has years of experience managing bars both as a General Manager and a Bar manger. Being in this industry 17+ years, Nino uses his connections to get his students behind bars thru out SD for paid guest bartending shifts, creates events for his students to bartend and uses his relationships with bar managers to get students job interviews and hired. The connections that GBS has gives our students a one-of-a-kind experience, something that will change the reputation of bartending schools forever.

Section 1

Everything you need to know about the bar from head-to-toe. This section includes bar tool knowledge, how to set up your bar station, terms of the bar and more!

This section also introduces students to free pouring. Students learn how to pour, pour counts and participate in pour testing. Thru out the course students will be mastering pouring consistently and CORRECTLY.


Section 2

Learn all of today’s top cocktails, over 100 in all. From 1-5 liquor drinks, shots, margaritas, craft cocktails, martini's, champagne and specialty cocktails. Also learn some great tricks to remembering them and pouring multiple drinks at once. Section also teaches the history of the liquors, beers and wines you will be serving. This section also includes a lecture on customer service and ways to maximize your tips. Tips and tricks from SD's top award winning bartenders.


Section 3

Point of Sale training- GBS teaches all of our students how to use the "computerized cash register (POS). Learn now and you will have a huge advantage when looking for employment. We are the only school to offer such training and many venues require its training before being hired (look up job requirements and see for yourself). 50 percent of bartending in the real world is using the POS systems, YOU CAN NOT BARTEND WITHOUT BEING TRAINED ON THE POS SYSTEMS, FACT. Although there are several POS system brands they all work very similar. Some minor changes will happen with different systems, mainly similar words for buttons. DO NOT LISTEN TO SCHOOLS TELL YOU POS IS NOT IMPORTANT OR EASY TO LEARN.  Its expected to be already trained, you CAN NOT mess-up cash transactions in the real world, plain and simple. We teach you how to make multiple drinks while ringing them in the POS system, real life bartending drills to make our students completely ready for real bartending!

Our program includes a mock service during the class for all the students to feel the real life environment of bartending. This section includes the POS system, lights, music, bass, customer transactions, up-selling, real life scenarios and energy to simulate the real thing! Get those first time jitters out in class and not public, feel the amazing confidence boost!

San Diego's top Bartending School is inside Bassmnt Nightclub in the heart of the Gaslamp! We use our amazing facility to simulate REAL LIFE Bartending during the Mock Service section of class.

Section 4

The is job hunting 101 for San Diego bartenders. Everything from what to wear, what to say, how to prepare your self, what tools to use to find jobs and how to approach each one. Students will have a lecture on resumes and exactly how to word it. Most importantly our veteran bar managers show students how to find their individual selling points aka interview coaching. GBS is the only school with ACTIVE bar managers and bartenders on staff.

 

Tips- What to look for when picking your school:

THE "GUARANTEED JOB" LIE- This is not an industry that can guarantee you a job behind a real bar immediately without a question, hard truth. GBS has more connections and hiring partners then anyone with students working on average in days and not even we would make such false promises. Some schools are also staffing agencies and will try to use that as a way to promise a job. You will start as a busser and eventually move up to the bottom of the bartending food chain, “special events”. YOU DO NOT NEED A BARTENDING SCHOOL TO BARTEND SPECIAL EVENTS AND THAT DOES NOT HELP YOU GET A REAL BARTENDING JOB. The bar and bottles are not close to a real bar set up and there is no cash or credit card transactions therefor its useless to help get a job at a actual bar. Bar mangers dont consider this “real bartending”. GBS is all about bartending part time or full time at a actual job you can count on, not once-in-a-while events that involve no skill. There is a big difference between bringing in $1000+ cash a week and making 100’s of different drinks behind a bar with customers and POS systems, compared to handing out some pre-poured wine and beers with a few 1 liquor drinks poured straight out the bottle and no POS or even real bar set up. Go look at your local bar, you’ll notice that is not the same to say the least.

“GET CERTIFIED”- THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BARTENDING CERTIFICATE OR BARTENDING LICENCE IN CALIFORNIA. We refuse to sell this lie that every school does, its a misleading trick to make people think they MUST be certified to bartend. ASK ANY BARTENDER OR MANAGER ANYWHERE! That being said you definitely need a Bartending School with the proper tools and training or you will go nowhere fast or be a looking a several years in lower tier positions (aka alot less money). We at GBS are ACTUAL CURRENT BARTENDERS AND MANAGERS w/ decades of experience combined from across the country, we know what were talking about, a certificate is not a real thing. If a school is lying to you already imagine what to expect. We do believe a certificate of completion representing your hard work is great but by no means does “getting certified” get you a pipeline behind the bar.

CHEAPER IS NOT BETTER- Sadly we get many students coming to GBS after taking other bartending schools to save a few bucks or because its closer. Do your research and invest in your future, you simply get what you pay for..
